Hurricane Matthew 2016

Wednesday October 12, 2016
Lumberton, North Carolina – The town of Lumberton continues to struggle with rising waters and increased flooding throughout the community. Many homes which had escaped damage in the first days after Hurricane Matthew have now been flooded as the Lumber River is cresting and spilling water even farther and higher out of its banks. The community resources, including parks and roads are lying under several feet of water, and sinkholes have formed within the town.
